Fish Stocking:
A motion was made that Elizabeth Wilhelm-Alderton will continue to work with the DNR to stock fish in 2016-2017 based on what the DNR allows and will survive in the lakes.
Historical DNR/Fish Documents:
While working with the DNR, the following documents were shared that give an interesting historical perspective. All documents can be found by clicking here.
2015 Information
Fish Cribs:
Dale Larson reported that multiple attempts to contact various people in the DNR involved with fish cribs, he was not successful in gaining any information. The good news is that due to several large trees falling in the lake and the fact that the water level has risen, there is more cover for fish and fish cribs are not as much of a necessity.
Fish Stocking:
It was decided that Lou Wilhelm will work with the DNR to start exploring the option of what types of fish might survive in the lakes.
2014 Information
Fish Cribs:
Dale Larson is working with the DNR on a fish crib design design, but it has yet to be approved by the Wisconsin DNR.
One alternative is to provide a fish habitat that mimics tree falls on the shore. Called “fish sticks” it is a method of providing fish habitat developed by the Wisconsin DNR. Anyone interested in developing fish habitat on their property can contact the DNR for more information.
Dale Larson viewed his perspective that we can not think about fish stocking until we have cribs in place to provide habitat and protection for stocked fish. He said the bass in our lakes are very aggressive and result in other species being stunted.
